Jason was in his second year of medical school when Erin started her first year. The two met over study materials one evening within the confines of the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. Over the next weeks, simple exchanges led to long conversations, culminating in Jason suavely asking Erin out to dinner one night while the two were with mutual friends at a local bar... fast forward eight years, two residencies, a fellowship and a global pandemic- and the day has finally come!
Jason and Erin had embarked on a trip unlike any other they had shared. In the summer of 2018, they set off on a cross-country road trip from Columbus, Ohio to Coos Bay, Oregon, where the two would live and work in the small coastal town for a month while learning about rural Plastic Surgery and Pediatric Medicine. Their trip West had taken them through the Badlands, Mount Rushmore, Grand Teton, and Yellowstone, prior to their arrival in Glacier National Park. Jason had been nervous the entire way with the ring in tow, ensuring it was always safe, yet out of Erin's view... which was difficult, essentially living out of their car on the drive. On the morning of August 3, 2018, with the sun rising over Lake McDonald and the park seemingly to themselves, Jason dropped to a knee and asked Erin what she was doing for the rest of his life.
